After a quick check of the list, we've determined that this year we have more than 35,000 lights on the house. The effect is spectacular, so come on over and watch the show - it's changing every few nights at the moment to include even more lights and new songs.
Tuppetsdad has been hard at work on his own pet project for this Christmas, and it's finally coming together (not a moment too soon!). Aren't his angels beautiful?
Wow it has been a long time since we've updated the website, but it's only because we've been very busy getting ready for Christmas!
The candy is ready, the lights are up and the programming is well under way. This year we are once again supporting Starlight Children's Foundation to help them brighten the lives of seriously ill children. By 2016 they aim to be granting a wish a day, and your donations can help achieve that goal. This year we even have some fabulous giveaways for donors. The lights will be on in December from 8.30pm to Midnight, with brand new features including a 5m tall megatree made from super special Stellascapes pixel lights and a great display of motifs on the fence, as well as old favourites like Santa's boots and the moving reindeer. More than 23,000 LEDs synchronised to the music makes for a spectacular display for young and old. Tuppetslights is looking forward to being a display site for Stellascapes lights this Christmas. We had a small pixel tree last year but this year will be bigger and brighter and much much better.
We are in the process of organising the 2012 Melbourne Mini, a gathering of Christmas Lights enthusiasts from around Victoria and Australia. You only learn half of what you need to know from reading - come along to find out about the other half in person!
The whole thing is being organised over on AusChristmasLighting, an online forum for animated lighting - If you aren't a member already go ahead and sign up! sneak preview of one of the many new features which will be on display next Christmas. Proof of concept complete. we started planning what to do for 2012 while the lights were still up, but in the last month or so we have really started working out what we want to do. So far all I can say is BIGGER AND BETTER.
As always, our target is for a bright and classy Christmas! It is time to pull down the lights for another year, pack them away and begin planning for bigger and better things in 2012. Last night was the last night for our show, and hundreds of lights have already been packed up. The house looks like a shadow of what it has been for the last month without the icicles and mini trees.
We estimate that we had over a thousand visitors this year (although some of them may have been visiting three or four times so it was a bit hard to tell!) and we handed out over 500 candy canes to visiting children. Thanks to all of our visitors who helped us raise an amazing $1559 for the Starlight Children's Foundation. The 2011 show has now been uploaded. We have been thrilled by the number of visitors so far - we think we have had over 300 on a couple of nights (though thankfully not all at the same time!), and over 500 people have viewed this website! We are also very happy with the contribution our visitors have made to Starlight Children's Foundation through our donation box. The box (and the show) will still be up until at least the first of January, so if you haven't visited yet you still have time!
